We spent 8 nights on the safari portion of our trip, which included our one rest day at the start. We left for the actual safari from the Roy Safari offices in Arusha and ended back in Arusha at the Precision Air offices. The distance from the Arusha to the Serengeti was about 6 hrs each way.
We stayed at the following places:
- Moivara Coffee Lodge – one full rest day in Arusha – two nights
- Kirurumu Tented Lodge – one night – first day of safari
- Serengeti Serena – 4 nights
- Ngorongoro Serena Lodge– 2 nights
All places were good, even the Kimura Tented Lodge, which had tented living area connected to a concrete structure for the bathroom, all on a raised platform. Food was consistently fine, but certainly not gourmet. Desserts were pretty lame, overall. Based on the current websites for each place, they look basically the same, which means over the 10 years since we visited, they have been maintained and probably upgraded.
